Dr. William Evans, the pediatric cardiologist who has
performed wonders on the children of two Las Vegas West
Rotarians, was an honored guest at a club meeting
recently.
To celebrate Dr.
Evans for his remarkable work on son Zachary,
Brett Grant presented him with a Paul Harris Fellow
award. Evans, a former Rotarian, knows exactly what that
means and said he was honored.
Evans began his
cardiological work with Zachary when he was just three
days old. He is now a husky Little Leaguer of 12.
Dr. Evans also
performed his medical miracles on Ryan, the baby
son of Greg Kinkead.
Both the Grant and
Kinkead families were on hand for the presentation to Dr.
Evans. He also spoke to our club about his life and career
as the paramount children's heart doctor in Nevada.
Let Brett tell the story:
“Over
the years, our family has been blessed with an exceptional
doctor and a caring physician that cares so much for
Zachary and our entire family.
"He
has opened his offices to us with late-night visits, made
house calls, advocated for Zachary and provided excellent
referrals for us to see specialists in other cities...plus
so much more.
“I first met Dr. Evans
on Sept. 29, 1997, three days after the twins were born,”
says Brett.
“He was alerted to the
nursery at
Sunrise
Hospital about a heart issue with Zachary.”
“Without question, he
is one of the finest doctors in Las Vegas. He's always
available to our family and we owe him more than we could
ever repay.”
Evans founded the
Children’s Heart Center,
Nevada’s largest pediatric cardiology practice, in 1980.
He continues to serve as its director.
As a long-standing member of the Las Vegas
medical community, he has held positions at several area
hospitals and served as a board member of numerous
charities.
Board certified in both pediatrics and
pediatric cardiology, Evans obtained his MD from the
University of California, Irvine.
He then completed his internship residency
and pediatric cardiology fellowship at the Children's
Hospital, Los Angeles. |
